Angie McGinnis
Fraser High School
If you're playing against
Angie McGinnis and her volleyball or basketball
teams, watch out. Angie expects both of those teams
to make it into the final four spots of their leagues.
And if she's right about that, it's certain that
this senior will be a key part of those successes.
Angie grew up watching a cousin play volleyball
and that got her hooked on the sport that she now
calls her favorite. She's a setter who's already
made a commitment to take her volleyball skills
to the University of Florida for the 2004-2005 season.
She'll probably study business at Florida, but for
now, Angie's favorite classes are psychology and
math.

Adam Nuckols
Waterford Mott High School
Adam Nuckols runs track, wrestles,
and plays football for Waterford Mott High School.
So what's his favorite sport? Adam told us that
he loves hitting people in football - it's his favorite.
But this week's scholar athlete is no bully. Adam
spends time working with children when he's not
engaged in some sort of athletic competition or
academic pursuit. As part of the Mott Mentors Program,
he goes, each Thursday, to work with young kids
on their math and writing skills.
This hard-hitting football player is
also in the school choir.
Adam enjoys his English classes and is thinking
about studying engineering in the future.

Elizabeth Angotti
Fordson High School
"Nothing else matters
when I'm playing tennis." That's what Elizabeth
Angotti told Don Shane about her favorite sport.
Elizabeth plays number one doubles for Dearborn's
Fordson High School and while she's spent 4 years
on the varsity tennis team, she has also played
volleyball and run track.
Elizabeth says that it is a combination of sports
and academics that keep her on track. Her tennis
coach, John Forster says that this scholar athlete
"has that drive that not a lot of other players
have."
When asked what she wanted to do after high school,
Elizabeth talked about interest in medicine and
in engineering before declaring, "It's all
good."

Lindsay Caldwell
Milan High School
Now on her way to the University
of Michigan, Lindsay Caldwell will be missed by
her teammates and coaches at Milan High School.
She is a volleyball, softball and basketball player
who will admit to being a bit competitive. In fact,
she calls softball her favorite of those sports
because it allows her to get outside and because
it is just such a competitive sport.
Lindsay played a big part in Milan High School's
first district championship softball win this season.
She's a catcher who came out on top of a big home
plate collision.
She will study kinesiology at U of M, where Lindsay
says she may also play intramural sports.

Stephanie Harris
Dexter High School
Stephanie Harris, of Dexter
High School, is a star on and off the field. She
plays both tennis and golf and loves them both.
But, she says tennis is her passion. For someone
who played neither sport until her freshman year
of high school, Stephanie is impressively good.
Having just graduated high school, she heads to
the University of Michigan where she will study
political science. Stephanie would like to one day
be a diplomat for the United Nations. Through high
school she loved language classes like German and
French.
