The amount of mercury contained in each vaccine is shown in the far right column. The symbol "µg" means micrograms. Before some vaccine makers began voluntarily reducing Thimerosal at the request of the government, 25µg per milliliter was the full, common dose.

For DT vaccine, for instance, you'll see on the chart below that Aventis makes two types, one of which contains only a fraction of a microgram of Thimerosal-but only when it is packaged in a single-dose vial. If it comes in a multi-dose vial, it contains the full 25µg per dose, as does a second Aventis DT vaccine regardless of how it is packaged.

Table Footnotes Thimerosal is approximately 50% mercury (Hg) by weight. A 0.01% solution (1 part per 10,000) of thimerosal contains 50 µg of Hg per 1 ml dose or 25 µg of Hg per 0.5 ml dose. Aventis Pasteurπs Tripedia may be used to reconstitute ActHib to form TriHIBit. TriHIBit is indicated for use in children 15 to 18 months of age. OmniHIB is manufactured by Aventis Pasteur but distributed by GlaxoSmithKline. COMVAX is not licensed for use under 6 weeks of age because of decreased response to the Hib component. Merckπs Hepatitis B vaccine for adults(adolescents) is available in both preservative-free and thimerosal-containing presentations.
