Week of August 28: Yoga and Menopause
Menopause is something every woman will eventually have to face. At times it can be extremely difficult, but you don’t have to lose your passion and the balance of your life. Yoga is perfect for helping you make the transition in a more harmonious and graceful way.
Meditation is an ancient practice that will help you find calmness and serenity in the heat of the moment.
To increase your energy level and improve your mood try sun salutations, which will bring strength and balance to your mind and body.

Week of August 21: Yoga for Depression
Depression has almost become an epidemic in our society. Too many people are consumed with negative thinking and it affects every aspect of their lives.
So how do you beat depression? Get out of your head and into your body.
One of the primary symptoms of depression is becoming sedentary. Through an ancient system of breath and movement, a series of cobra postures will help to open your heart, strengthen your back, and even increase your energy level and that natural chemical serotonin which changes your mood and increases your positive attitude.

Week of August 14: Diet Enhanced by Exercise
If you want to lose weight, it’s not enough just to exercise.
Tri-athlete Billy Downs, owner of bd’s mogolian barbecue, has made a living of healthy eating and staying in shape. He says diet and exercise work together and one on it’s own is not enough to get you fit.
One of the hardest things for people trying to lose weight is eating out, but at bd’s mogolian barbecue it’s about variety, choice and control. So remember when eating out, choose a place where you have a choice over portion size and ingredients.

Week of August 7: Body Image and Self Acceptance
What do you think when you look in the mirror? Do you like what you see or are you constantly battling negative voices in your head?
A recent study showed 90 percent of women don’t like what they see in the mirror. Many people have trouble attending yoga classes because of their body image.
Alberta Lipinski, a registered nurse from Medical Weight Loss Clinic, said they help patients with body image by working with them daily on behavior modification, which gives them a positive attitude about themselves.
At Medical Weight Loss they teach their patients how to eat from the basic four food groups because healthy eating helps us feel better about who we are.
Next time you look in the mirror, close your eyes, take a deep breath and realize real beauty and change comes from within.

Week of July 31: Real Men Do Yoga
Most people know yoga has great health benefits, but did you know it can get you in top physical condition? Real men, like Billy Downs, owner of bd’s mongolian barbecue, do yoga to help them in sports and in their every day lives.
Billy used yoga to help him prepare for a triathlon. It helped him to relax and work on his breathing.
Yoga has also helped him run bd’s mongolian barbeque because yoga is great for stress relief.

Week of July 24: Dealing with Back Pain
There are many causes for back pain including poor posture, carrying extra weight, weak core muscles and especially chronic stress and tension. So you need a solution that deals with all those issues.
There is no better exercise to address them than yoga. Yoga helps increase your metabolism, burn away unnecessary weight and tension and brings awareness and strength to core muscles.
Here are three yoga postures to help ease back pain:
• Full diaphragmatic breathing
• Spinal balancing
• The boat pose

Week of July 17: Hunger vs. Cravings
Cravings are a form of hunger. It’s best to eat every two to three hours. If you pacify that metabolism you won’t have cravings that will cause you to have horrible hunger.
When cravings come up take full complete diaphragmatic breaths by putting your hands on your abdomen and chest and breathing into all three parts of the lungs. Use this to check in to see if you’re really full or hungry or not.
And remember, when your cravings come up they’re like waves, they arise to eventually pass away.

Week of July 10: Yoga and the Athlete
Are you looking for an edge in your workout or sport? Then yoga is the perfect practice to take you to the next level.
Many athletes now, even people who are working out, are turning to yoga to take them to the next level and give them an edge.
Any athlete will tell you they perform the best when they are relaxed and yoga teaches you how to breathe and relax even in the most intense situations
Also, strength without flexibility leaves you with rigidity and that’s very dangerous in any sport, but flexibility without strength leaves you with instability—yoga gives you both. It’s a complete mind body workout.
